At the Red Cottage Preschool we use a themed based curriculum. Our themes often correlate with seasons, holidays, the world around us, and children's interests. As we explore our theme we incorporate our main areas of learning such as literacy, math, science, STEM, music, art, and fine and gross motor skills. We approach this with fun hands-on learning activities. Some examples include number hunts, sound matching games, color musical chairs, counting boards with fun manipulative and fine motor tools, sensory bins with hidden letters, and crafts.
I understand all children learn in different ways and at different speeds and strongly believe that the curriculum needs to be flexible and work for the individual needs of my students. I will be evaluating all students throughout the year to determine what areas your child has mastered and what areas we need to work on. Each theme includes activities I personally create and customize for our class as well as activities and ideas from some amazing early childhood educators. Our small class size and flexible curriculum allow me to customize our learning plan to best meet your child's needs. The curriculum is based on current research and meets kindergarten readiness standards.
