My Story
Hello! I'm Crystal and I'm the owner and teacher at the Red Cottage Preschool. Starting an in-home preschool has been a dream of mine for many years and have loved teaching for the past 4 years.
I attended BYU-Idaho and Utah State for 3 years while I pursued a bachelors degree in Elementary Education. During this time I earned my associates degree and over half of my classes and credits in early childhood and elementary education. With a baby on the way and my husband almost finished with school I decided to take a break. With my youngest starting kindergarten in the fall I am currently working on a duel degree in Elementary and Special Education. Over the years I've had some amazing internships and many training hours in lower elementary grades (about 1,000 hours) as well as worked in a daycare with toddlers and preschoolers with social and emotional disorders. I love teaching but more importantly I love the children I worked with. I always planned on being an elementary teacher but after teaching all my little ones preschool at home and participating in a few "mommy preschool groups" I discovered spending my days with this little age group sound pretty amazing.
Teaching and creating are my passions. I love that I can combine the two to create fun, hands-on learning experiences for my children and students. I am constantly trying to improve my teaching skills and find new strategies and ideas to use in my classroom and spend several hours each week planning, researching, taking online trainings, and implementing the new strategies I'm learning in our preschool class. This is something I will continue doing to make sure our little learners are receiving the best education possible.
While my children and I have enjoyed our preschool days together we are very excited to add some new little friends to our preschool class. I'm excited to get to know your little learner and watch them learn and grow this year.
If you are interested in seeing some of our preschool activities in action or would love some ideas to try with your little ones at home you can find them on my blog The Cozy Red Cottage.
